Voices of Vision: An All-Star Tribute to Women’s History Month

In a special community collaboration, East End Jazz and the Jamesport Meeting House are proud to present an extraordinary concert honoring Women’s History Month.

This partnership brings an all-star lineup of female musicians to one of the East End’s most historic settings to celebrate the women who have shaped, and continue to shape, the landscape of jazz. The performance aligns with the 2026 national theme, "Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future," highlighting the leadership and visionary artistry of women in the arts.
The repertoire will showcase the music of iconic female jazz figures such as Billie Holiday, Mary Lou Williams, as well as original compositions and many more. From timeless classics to modern masterpieces, the program highlights the works of both legendary icons and contemporary female composers who have defined the genre across generations.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Jamesport Meeting House for this event,” says Iris Ornig director of East End Jazz, “By joining forces, we are able to create a space that truly honors the bold artistry and enduring influence of women in jazz—past, present, and future.”
Ada Rovatti - Originally from Italy, refined her craft at Berklee College of Music before becoming a staple of the New York jazz scene. Known for her technical brilliance and versatile arranging, she has headlined major festivals worldwide, from Montreal to NorthSea. Whether performing with the WDR Big Band or recording with the Brecker Brothers Reunion, Ada continues to push the boundaries of modern jazz and songwriting.
‘Lo’ Wood is a dynamic saxophonist whose sound is deeply rooted in the blues and the mastery of the groove. A Chicago native and former Ella Fitzgerald Scholar, she has performed at iconic venues like Carnegie Hall and the Blue Note. Since moving to NYC, she has collaborated with legends such as Joe Lovano and Wycliffe Gordon, blending influences ranging from John Coltrane to Erykah Badu.
Cecilia Coleman - Bi-coastal pianist and educator has led acclaimed ensembles since 1990. From her roots in California to her current NYC-based Big Band, Cecilia is known for her distinctive compositions and versatile accompaniment. A former instructor at CSU Long Beach and a veteran of the New York club circuit, she continues to shape the contemporary landscape with her sophisticated arrangements and soulful performances.
Iris Ornig is one of the most original voices on the contemporary NYC jazz scene. A gifted bassist, composer, and charismatic performer, she has shared the stage with jazz greats like Gretchen Parlato and Ambrose Akinmusire. Her compositions are a masterclass in modern jazz—melodic, swinging, and full of surprises.
Wen-Ting Wu - Drummer, composer, and educator Wen-Ting Wu is a versatile artist from Taiwanbased in New York City. As an artist, she strives to create a space of freedom,honesty, empathy and expression using music as a vessel, a spiritual ritual, to generate positive energy and bring people together. Wen-Ting is endorsed by Canopus Drums.

East End Jazz is proud to present "Generations of Jazz: Women in Modern Jazz," a special concert honoring Women’s History Month. This extraordinary event will take place on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the historic St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Bridgehampton.

This performance brings together a multi-generational ensemble of world-class vocalists and instrumentalists to celebrate the power of female voices in music. The program features a carefully curated selection of songs, each chosen by the performers for their deep personal meaning and ability to foster community connection.

"We are bringing generations of women together to share the stage and celebrate our history," says Iris Ornig, Director of East End Jazz. "Each artist brings a unique perspective, but we are united through the power of music and storytelling.”

The concert features an impressive roster of "kindred spirits" from the East End and the NYC jazz scene:

Lola Lama (Vocals): An NYU Tisch graduate and theatrical talent who leads the trio Whatever Lola Wants.

Natalia Rahim (Vocals): An East End native known for her soulful storytelling and deep audience connection.

Brandi Disterheft (Vocals/Bass): A JUNO Award-winner and protégé of Ron Carter, described by Oscar Peterson as "serious."

Jane Hastay (Piano): A cornerstone of the Hamptons music scene and Manhattan School of Music alumna.

Iris Ornig (Bass/Director): One of NYC’s most original contemporary jazz voices and composers.

In celebration of Women's History Month, a designated month in the United States since 1987 to honor women's contributions to history, culture, and society, East End Jazz presents a special concert featuring an all-star lineup of female musicians performing the works of legendary female jazz composers and performers. These dynamic concert will showcasing the incredible talent and artistry of women who have shaped the landscape of jazz music.
The repertoire will showcase the music of iconic female jazz figures such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Mary Lou Williams, Carla Bley, Alice Coltrane, Dorothea Fields, Irene Higginbotham, and many more.

East End Jazz has been selected as nonprofit partner in the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program for March 2025.
