"Jazz does not belong to one race or culture.
It's a gift that America gave the world."
- Ahmad Alaadeen

East End Jazz presents its season finale of the East Meets Jazz Jam Session with Silent Film Jazz Jam at Southampton Cultural Center. Multimedia artist Cliff Baldwin provides silent film clips while musicians, vocalists, and the audience create the story through live improv.
In a departure from tradition, performers are in charge of the narrative. Supported by a pro rhythm section, musicians receive cues—melodies, standards, or emotional movements—to score the films in real-time.
"We are challenging performers and the audience to become storytellers," says Director Iris Ornig.
To help everyone feel confident and ready to play, We've put together a curated songlist, cues and movements that you can look over in advance: Email us!
